LOWER DESCHUTES
STEELHEAD | TROUT

Exiting Pelton Dam running due North to the Columbia River is a 100 mile river section known as the Lower Deschutes. This is Oregon's premiere fly fishing river. Recognized internationally as a blue ribbon trout & summer steelhead stream, we specialize in 1-3 day float trips through the canyon in pursuit of these remarkable fish.

Fishing from a floating device is prohibited on the Deschutes, so we float our clients down the river in comfortable drift boats stopping at numerous locations throughout the day to get out and wade fish.

STEELHEAD

July through October thousands of summer run Steelhead migrate into the rugged canyon of the Deschutes River, producing one of the largest return of adult summer Steelhead in the lower 48 states. Wild and hatchery stock, these fish run between 4 and 10 pounds and are remarkable fighters.

Mid July through December, Deschutes River Steelhead provide beginning to advanced anglers great opportunity to bring these fish to the fly. 7 or 8 weight fly rods and reels with lots of backing are recommended to tame these ocean-fed trout. Two-handed spey rods are also very useful on this big river and are provided with instruction on our steelhead trips.

TROUT

Spanning 12 up to 20 inches, the 100% native Rainbows known as the Deschutes River Redsides are great sport when on the end of a 4 or 5 weight fly rod. These wild trout respond readily to nymph & dry fly tactics and a floating line is all that is ever needed. May through October is prime trout season but these fish do provide great angling opportunities all year round. Walk in or float trips available.
